Education Qualification
To apply for the BSUSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026, candidates must have at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade) in their Master’s degree from a recognized university.
Candidates belonging to SC/ST/BC (Non-Creamy Layer)/EBC (Non-Creamy Layer) of Bihar and persons with disabilities (PwD) of Bihar are eligible for a 5% relaxation in the minimum marks. However, only one relaxation can be claimed.
Apart from the Master’s degree, candidates must meet any one of the following conditions:
Qualified UGC NET/CSIR NET or any other UGC-recognized eligibility test for Assistant Professor.
Completed a Ph.D. under the UGC 2009 or 2016 Regulations, which provides exemption from NET.
Registered for a Ph.D. before the 2009 UGC Regulations and fulfilled all the prescribed conditions for NET exemption.
Obtained a Ph.D. from a foreign university that is ranked among the top 500 universities in the world (QS, THE, or ARWU rankings).
Note: Candidates applying for subjects where NET/SLET/SET is not conducted by UGC/CSIR or any recognized authority do not need to qualify NET/SLET/SET.

Age Relaxing
Candidates applying for the BSUSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 must be at least 21 years old and should not be more than 43 years of age as on the cut-off date mentioned in the official notification. Selection Proccess
The selection process for the BSUSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 consists of academic evaluation and an interview-cum-demonstration.
Before the evaluation, candidates who have a CGPA/CPI/Grade must convert it into percentage using the official conversion formula provided by their university or board.
Candidates will be shortlisted for the interview in a 1:3 ratio, which means up to three eligible candidates will be called for the interview for every vacancy.
Interview-cum-Demonstration (12 Marks)
The interview carries a total of 12 marks, divided as follows:
- Teaching Demonstration (Teaching Skills): 6 Marks
- Interaction with the Interview Board: 6 Marks
The marks awarded by the Selection Committee during the interview are final and cannot be challenged or re-evaluated.
Merit List & University Allotment
The final merit list will be prepared based on the combined marks obtained in academic qualifications and the interview-cum-demonstration.
If two or more candidates score the same marks, the ranking will be decided in the following order:
- Candidate with higher academic marks will be ranked higher.
- If the tie still continues, the older candidate (based on date of birth) will be given preference.
- If both are still equal, the candidate whose name comes first alphabetically in Devanagari script will be ranked higher.
University allotment will be done based on the candidate’s merit and preferred university choices. Once a university is allotted, the preference cannot be changed. Selected candidates must join within 7 days of the joining notification; otherwise, their candidature will be cancelled.
Salary and Pay Scale
Candidates selected for the BSUSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 will be appointed on a contractual basis.
The selected candidates will receive a fixed monthly salary as decided by the Higher Education Department, Government of Bihar. The salary may be revised by the State Government from time to time.
Since these are contractual appointments, candidates will not receive the regular pay scale or service benefits that are available to permanent Assistant Professors.
